Between the escarpment and the sea, almost every northern Illawarra village has its own rock pool. Coalcliff, Wombarra, Coledale and Austinmer sit below the cliffs along the coast road, and in Wollongong you can swim laps in the Continental Pool, then cool off in the old Gentlemen's Pool next door.
