The Killcare rock pool is a small ring of stones on the rock shelf beside Putty Beach, on the edge of Bouddi National Park. It's free and simple, best at high tide on a calm day, and a lovely quiet dip after a walk on the Bouddi coast.

What it's like
This is more natural pool than built one: a circle of stones holding the sea in place at the edge of the rocks. Putty Beach itself is often calmer than the surf beaches nearby, and the pool is a peaceful spot to cool off with bush all around. Its location on our map is approximate, so look along the rocks beside the beach.
When to go
Go at high tide on a calm day, since at low tide it's too shallow to swim. Weekdays are very quiet.
Getting there and facilities
Putty Beach is at Killcare, on the edge of Bouddi National Park, and the Bouddi Coastal Walk runs nearby. Facilities are at the Putty Beach picnic area in the national park.
Good to know
The pool is unpatrolled. The rocks around it are slippery.
