What it's like
This is a toddlers' pool more than a lap pool: small, shallow and calm, with a stony floor. Parents can grab a coffee from the cafe a few steps away and keep an eye on the splashing. Locals raised the money for the concrete floor through the Avoca Beach Progress Association, and an older, smaller rock pool once sat at its eastern end.
When to go
Calm mornings around mid tide suit young children. The summer holidays are busy.
Getting there and facilities
The pool is at the southern end of Avoca Beach, with a cafe, a playground and toilets right beside it. Avoca's village shops are a short walk back along the beachfront.
Good to know
No lifeguard watches the pool, though Avoca Beach is patrolled in season. The stony floor is hard on bare feet, so take care near the edges.
