Gymea Bay Baths is a netted tidal enclosure at the head of a bushy bay on Port Hacking, and for now it is closed. Sutherland Shire Council began rebuilding access to the baths and reserve in May 2026, with work expected to finish in early 2027.

What it's like
The baths sit at the head of Gymea Bay, a sheltered, bush-fringed inlet off Port Hacking. Storm damage put them out of action, and the water quality here has rated very poor for several years running. The current works cover the car park, the service road, drainage, bush regeneration and the concrete pool deck.
When to go
Not until the baths reopen, expected in early 2027. In the meantime, Lilli Pilli Baths and Gunnamatta Bay Baths are close by and open.
Getting there and facilities
The baths are on Ellesmere Road, Gymea Bay, below Gymea Bay Reserve. Access and the public toilets are closed during construction.
Good to know
The site is closed for works. Even after reopening, water quality is a known problem, so check Beachwatch before swimming.
