The Currarong rock pools are a natural channel of clear water over sand, sheltered between two lines of rock at the edge of the bay in Currarong, on the Beecroft Peninsula near Jervis Bay. They're free, long and narrow, with steps and a handrail, and lovely for a quiet swim or snorkel at high tide.

What it's like
Nature did most of the work here. The channel runs about 20 to 30 m along the rocks and only three or four metres across, with soft sand underfoot and the rock shelves keeping out the swell. Steps and a handrail help you in and out. It's a peaceful place to float, look at the rock life and watch the bay.
When to go
Calm days around high tide give the best swim. Weekdays outside the holidays are very quiet.
Getting there and facilities
Currarong is a small village on the Beecroft Peninsula, about 30 minutes' drive east of Nowra. The pools are a short walk from the village, and Abrahams Bosom Beach and its picnic area are a short scramble over the rocks beyond.
Good to know
Nobody patrols here. Much of the peninsula is a navy training area open only on weekends and school holidays, though Currarong village is open every day.
