Ivo Rowe Rockpool is one of the smallest ocean pools on Sydney's coast, a shallow natural rock pool in South Coogee, about 2 km south of Coogee Beach on the coastal walk. It's free and quiet, more a wade and a cool-off than a swim, and a lovely surprise mid-walk.

What it's like
This is a natural basin in the rock platform, shallow enough for wading and easy to miss if you're not looking. It sits off the coastal walk between Coogee and Maroubra, with wide sea views and usually only a handful of people. Think of it as a pause button rather than a destination.
When to go
Calm days at low to mid tide, when the platform is safest. It works best as a stop on the coastal walk.
Getting there and facilities
Walk about 2 km south from Coogee Beach on the coastal walkway, or park in South Coogee and come in via Bunya Parade, the best car access. There are no facilities at the pool.
Good to know
The beach is unpatrolled and dogs aren't allowed. The rocks in and around the pool are slippery.
