Bayview Park Baths in Concord is a netted swimming enclosure on the Parramatta River that reopened in November 2022, the first legal swimming at the site since 1969. It's free, next to a park and playground, and a sign of how far the river's clean-up has come.

What it's like
The enclosure holds calm river water off the edge of Bayview Park, with lawns and shade behind. Earlier baths here closed in the 1960s because the river had become too polluted. After decades of clean-up work, the City of Canada Bay brought swimming back in 2022, and on a hot afternoon it's busy with local families.
When to go
Summer days after a dry spell. Skip it for a few days after heavy rain, when stormwater affects the river.
